FAQ

What insurance do you accept?

Our goal is to provide the utmost in assistance and coordination with all of our participating health insurance providers as well as Medicare. We are pleased to be participating providers for Medicare and almost every other major health insurance plan. We are specialists, so we only accept primary health insurance, we do not accept eye insurance. Click Here to learn more about our Insurance policies.

Do you do regular eye exams? Can you fit me for glasses/contacts, too?

No. Retina & Vitreous of Texas does not provide prescriptions for glasses or contacts. We are completely focused on the back of the eye. That means we don't provide Lasik eye correction, cataract, or glaucoma treatment, either. However, we are happy to refer patients to these types of specialists if needed.

Will my child's eyes be dilated?

Yes. It is standard procedure for RVT to conduct our own eye exams for our patients, new and current. This includes eye dilation. We do this to keep record and monitor the eye. Dilation usually lasts about 4-6 hours. If your child is old enough to drive, we recommend that they come with a companion to drive them home, especially if this is their first visit. Dilation can impair everyone a bit differently.

What do I need to bring to my first visit?
